Walnut Creek, CA – Two Men Dead, Two Women Injured after Violent Single-Vehicle Accident and Suspected DUI Incident on Eastbound Highway 24 near Interstate 680

Walnut Creek, CA (August 12, 2018) – Local news sources reported that two men died and two women sustained injuries as the result of a violent single-vehicle accident and suspected DUI incident that took place along the eastbound lanes of Highway 24, in the vicinity of the Interstate 680 interchange. Authorities first logged the incident at 4:01 AM in the early morning hours on Sunday, August 12, 2018. As of today, officials identified the driver as 18-year-old Antioch residence Ramya Ramey. No details about the 18-year old Oakley woman or the two 18-year old men who were riding in Ramey’s vehicle have been disclosed at this time.

According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, Ramey had been driving a silver 2000 Honda Civic along Highway 24. As she drew closer to the interchange at 680, for indeterminate reasons, Ramey swerved off the road, and the vehicle overturned multiple times before slamming onto Boulevard Circle. Sources indicate the Honda sustained severe damage during the impact.

Sometime later, officials sadly reported Ramey’s two male passengers died at the crash site.

Meanwhile, medical personnel transported the 18-year old female passenger to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek to receive treatment for severe injuries.

Ramey also required hospitalization, but her injuries were not severe.

Afterward, police arrested the driver on several charges of felony manslaughter on account of the deaths of the two male passengers, and several charges of driving under the influence, for inflicting traumatic injuries to the female passenger.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the two male passengers and wish them strength and peace of mind during this tragic, difficult time. We also extend our most loving prayers to the female passengers and wish her a swift and efficient recovery from her severe injuries.

Fatal DUI Accident in Contra Costa County

Given the circumstances, officers have held Ramey responsible for causing the crash that killed two people and injured one person. Police believe she had consumed either drugs or alcohol prior to operating her vehicle, a severe crime that can result in penalties based on blood-toxicity level and the brutality of the accident itself.

Based on this information alone, the members of the deceased victims’ families may have the right to file a wrongful injury lawsuit against the culprit driver and, ultimately, receive compensation for unfortunate circumstances including funeral expenses and the tragic loss of loved ones.

In a similar manner, the female passenger may have the option of pursuing a personal injury lawsuit to receive compensation for inconveniences ranging from medical bills to painful injuries.
