Walnut Creek, CA – Motorcyclist Injured after Suspected Hit-and-Run Collision on Northbound 680 Freeway near Ygnacio Valley Road Off-Ramp

Walnut Creek, CA (August 9, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist sustained injuries as the result of a suspected hit-and-run collision that took place along the northbound lanes of the 680 Freeway in the vicinity of the Ygnacio Valley Road off-ramp. CHP first documented the accident at some time before 3:30 PM in the afternoon on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the injured motorcyclist or the suspect motorist has been revealed.

As indicated in the CHP log, the motorcyclist had been traveling down northbound 680 and, for indeterminate reasons, was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Based on witness reports, a total of five vehicles, including two motorcycles that had overturned on the highway, had been involved in the deadly accident.

Sometime later, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and assisted one victim who sustained injuries during the impact. The current physical condition of this individual has not been disclosed.

Police confirmed the driver of the vehicle that clipped the first motorcycle did not assist the victim and left the crash site. Authorities have possibly identified the vehicle as a 2003 to 2013 Toyota Tundra, dark gray in color, which sustained severe damage to its front end.

At this time, authorities are conducting a continuing investigation into the crash.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and most loving thoughts to the injured motorcyclist and wish the patient a swift and efficient recovery.

By law, drivers involved in an accident are required to remain at the scene of the accident and cooperate with authorities. Fleeing a crash site is a cowardly, criminal offense that can result in severe punishment, including charges of felony hit-and-run. Based on this information, the suspect driver will be held fully responsible for causing the crash and inflicting injuries on the motorcyclist.

Pending the results of the investigation, the non-guilty injured victim may have the option to pursue a personal injury lawsuit and, ultimately, receive compensation for multiple inconveniences including medical bills, painful injuries, and vehicle damage.
