Fresno, California (June 27, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a school bus and white SUV were involved in a traffic collision at the intersection of E Butler and S Chance Avenues. The incident took place at approximately 7:52 AM on the morning of Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Authorities have not released detailed information concerning the identities of the bus driver, students, and the other motorists involved in the accident.
As part of the report, a female passenger in the SUV explained she had been accompanied by her sister in law, who had attempted to run a stop sign. At the same time, the school bus approached from an opposing direction. Without warning, the SUV slammed into the bus, resulting in the accident. The female passenger provided minimal details surrounding her sister, who reportedly returned to the crash site later.
Students who had been riding on the bus may have sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Authorities have not revealed if the students and their driver, as well as the driver and passenger in the SUV, had to be hospitalized for treatment.
At present, the investigation is ongoing. Officials have speculated this was a DUI crash. As more evidence begins to surface, more information will be released to the public.
Law enforcement has not revealed if the female SUV driver will be held accountable for causing the accident and, ultimately, any injuries sustained by the driver and students. Officials may consider if drug abuse, drunk driving, negligence, distracted driving, or reckless behavior contributed to the crash in any way.
Based on this information, the non-guilty parties have the legal rights to issue personal injury lawsuits against the driver, if she is officially convicted. By seeking legal assistance, these individuals can receive compensation for a variety of issues including medical bills, vehicle insurance, and painful injuries.
