Stockton, CA – Police Officer Injured after Motorcycle Accident at Intersection of Claremont and Yokuts Avenue

Stockton, CA (August 29, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a police officer sustained injuries as the result of a motorcycle accident that took place at the intersection of Claremont and Yokuts Avenues, behind the Weberstown and Sherwood Malls. The collision occurred at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. As of today, authorities have identified the injured victim as Officer James Nance, a member of the Stockton Police who is part of the traffic division. No details concerning the identity of the motorist involved in the crash have been revealed at this time.

According to the report, Officer Nance had been riding his motorcycle near Claremont and Yokuts Avenues. Officials confirmed he had been completing routine distracted driving enforcement and had activated his bike lights prior to the incident.

Simultaneously, a Honda SUV was traveling down Yokuts Avenue when, for indeterminate reasons, it plowed into Officer Nance’s motorcycle. Sometime later, emergency personnel brought Nance to a nearby hospital, where he was stabilized.

The current condition of the officer had not yet been revealed.

Officers also confirmed the Honda’s hood and windshield were severely damaged during the impact.

After the accident, authorities shut down multiple blocks between Yokuts and Pacific Avenues for a total of four hours. At 2:00 PM, the roadway was opened up.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
