San Ysidro, CA – Shella Pagsanjan Killed In Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway
San Ysidro, CA – (November 9, 2018) –Local authorities have identified the woman killed in a multi-vehicle accident as 44-year-old Shella Pagsanjan, of San Diego. The collision occurred at approximately 6:20 pm on Monday, November 5th, on the 5 Freeway near Dairy Mart Road.
Pagsanjan was reportedly driving in a Mercedes convertible heading southbound on Interstate 5 when she was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The force of the impact pushed the Mercedes into the rear of another pickup truck. Both of the pickup trucks subsequently crushed the Mercedes in what was described as a violent chain-reaction collision. Responding paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident and stabilized Pagsanjan before transporting her to the UCSD Medical Center Emergency Department for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Tragically, Pagsanjan passed away in the hospital at 8:18 pm. The truck driver who reportedly caused the chain-reaction crash was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The extent of the truck driver’s injuries has not been made public as of now.
This unfortunate and tragic accident remains under investigation.
