Oakland, CA – Police Officer Injured after Brutal Traffic Accident on Middle Harbor Road

Oakland, CA (August 14, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a young police officer suffered injuries as the result of a brutal traffic accident that took place on the 1900 block of Middle Harbor Road. The incident occurred at some time on Monday, August 13, 2018. As of today, authorities have identified the injured victim as 22-year old Jordan Wingate, a police officer from Oakland.

Based on the news report, Wingate had been driving to look into reports of a person conducting suspicious activity in the vicinity of the port. At some point, for indeterminate reasons, Wingate slammed into a vehicle on Middle Harbor Road and slid out of control. The force of the first impact sent Wingate’s vehicle careening into a big rig truck parked by the road.

Sometime later, emergency crews were dispatched to the crash site and discovered the police officer had been pinned inside the wrecked vehicle. Firefighters successfully extracted Wingate, who was transported to a nearby trauma center for more in-depth treatment. As of Tuesday, the officer was in severe condition.

Authorities did not confirm if anyone else was injured.

Sources revealed Wingate had not activated his siren or emergency lights prior to the accident. As of now, investigators are still looking into a probable cause for the collision.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and our most loving thoughts to Officer Wingate and wish him a swift and efficient recovery from his injuries.
