Oakland, CA – Authorities Identify Bicyclist Killed during Brutal Collision at 35th Avenue and Galindo Street in East Oakland

Oakland, CA (July 30, 2018) – Authorities have provided updated information about the bicyclist who died as the result of a brutal collision that took place in the vicinity of 35th Avenue and Galindo Street in the East Oakland area. Officials first logged the incident a little before 9:00 PM at night on Friday, July 27, 2018. As of now, the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the deceased victim as 34-year old Deontae Bush. No detailed information concerning the identity of the 40-year old motorist involved in the crash has been released at this time.

Initial reports confirmed a Chevrolet Express Limited van, driven by the 40-year old Oakland resident, was traveling north along 35th when, at some point, it crossed the intersection with Galindo. At the same time, Bush was riding a bicycle towards the same point, and the van collided with the rider. Sometime later, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and sadly revealed the bicyclist had died during the impact.

Authorities revealed the driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with law enforcement officials, as obliged by law.
