Hesperia, CA – Four Injured after Hit-and-Run and Suspected DUI on Mesa Street

Hesperia, CA (July 15, 2018) – Local news sources reported that four people sustained injuries as the result of a hit-and-run accident and suspected DUI that took place along Mesa Street, near Third and Fourth Avenues. The incident happened around 10:39 PM at night on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Authorities have identified the hit-and-run driver as 22-year old Terrance Bennett. At this time, officials have not revealed any more detailed information concerning the identities of the other three occupants of Bennett’s vehicle or the family of seven injured during the crash.

According to a report from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, a family of seven was traveling in a 2003 GMC Yukon down Mesa Street when, without warning, their vehicle was sideswiped by an oncoming 2003 Mazda sedan. As a result of the impact, the Yukon received severe damage to its front end and overturned.

Afterward, the San Bernardino County Fire Department and paramedics rushed to the crash site and rendered aid to the victims. Officials reported that four people, including two children, sustained non-life threatening injuries from the accident. Later, the group was transported to a nearby hospital to receive more in-depth treatment.

Simultaneously, bystanders informed police officers that four people exited the Mazda and ran from the crash site. Later, law enforcement located and arrested Terrance Bennett and his three passengers. Later, Barret was jailed and held on a bail of $100,000, on the charge of hit-and-run felony and DUI.

Hit-and-run incidents should not be taken lightly. Fleeing the scene of a crash is considered a cowardly, criminal act that can result in severe punishment. Based on this information, Mr. Bennett will be held completely accountable for causing the accident and, ultimately, the injuries sustained by two adults and two children. Furthermore, he will face charges for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Depending on the final case results, the adult passengers of the GMC Yukon will have the legal rights to file a personal injury lawsuit against the guilty party. By seeking legal assistance, these individuals can receive compensation for a variety of issues including medical bills, vehicles insurance, and painful injuries.
