Hemet, CA – Police Officer Injured after Two-Vehicle Collision and Suspected DUI Accident at Intersection of Devonshire and Tahquitz Avenues

Hemet, CA (August 14, 2018) – A local news source reported that a police officer sustained injuries as the result of a two-vehicle collision and suspected DUI accident that took place at the intersection of Devonshire and Tahquitz Avenues. Officials first documented the crash at approximately 5:40 PM in the afternoon last week on Thursday, August 9, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the police officer, the suspect driver, and additional people involved in the accident has been revealed.

Based on the initial report, a police car and a Honda Accord were traveling in the Hemet area when, for indeterminate reasons, both vehicles collided at the junction of Devonshire and Tahquitz. Sometime later, paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and revealed the police officer sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

Afterward, the officer was transported to a nearby hospital to receive more in-depth treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda sustained non-life threatening injuries and required hospitalization. Authorities believe the motorist had consumed either alcohol or drugs prior to operating the vehicle.

As part of the initial investigation and cleanup operations, law enforcement officials shut down both routes on Devonshire Avenue, between the junctions at Tahquitz Avenue and Gilbert Street for approximately one hour after the crash.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.

Two-Vehicle Collision and DUI Accident in Hemet

Given the circumstances, police believe the motorist had been driving under the influence of a chemical substance at the time of the accident. In light of this, authorities may hold this individual responsible for causing the crash and inflicting injuries on a police officer.

Depending on the final results of the crash, the injured officer may have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the DUI driver. Though legal intervention, this individual can receive compensation for multiple inconveniences including medical bills, painful injuries, and vehicle damage.
