Fallbrook, CA – Local News Identifies Young Girl Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Heald Lane near Fallbrook Community Center

Fallbrook, CA (August 6, 2018) – A local news source recently released updated information about the young girl who died as the result of a collision that took place along Heald Lane near Fallbrook Street, in the vicinity of the Fallbrook Community Center. The incident happened at approximately 6:30 PM in the evening on Friday, August 3, 2018. As of today, authorities have identified the child as 8-year old Fallbrook resident Christina Garcia. As of now, no detailed information about the 58-year old Fallbrook woman responsible for the accident or the girl’s aunt and grandmother, who accompanied her on a walk, has been released.

As the police originally reported, Garcia, her aunt, and her grandmother had been walking along a sidewalk on Heald Lane at the same time the 58-year old woman was driving a Toyota Rav4 SUV along the same route. At some point, the female motorist did not see the approaching pedestrians and tried to make a right turn into a parking lot. As a result, the vehicle slammed into Garcia.

Sometime later, rescue teams rushed the juvenile victim to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died.

Police confirmed the driver of the Toyota spoke with authorities after the crash.

Currently, investigators are looking into the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Christina Garcia and wish them strength and peace of mind during this difficult, tragic time.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident in San Diego County

By law, motorists are obliged to decrease the speed of their vehicles and provide the right of way to pedestrians along all areas of the roadway. Based on the case, the Toyota driver failed to notice the girl and two women, who had been walking along the sidewalk prior to the crash. In this sense, it appears the driver could be held fully responsible for causing the crash that led to the death of a juvenile.

Depending on the final results of the investigation, the members of Garcia’s family may have the choice to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit to receive compensation for the tragic loss of a loved one, funeral expenses, and additional, unfortunate circumstances.
