Delhi, CA – Three Adults and One Child Injured after Multi-Vehicle Traffic Accident along Northbound Highway 99 near Shanks Road

Delhi, CA (August 1, 2018) – A local news source reported that four people sustained injuries as the result of a multi-vehicle traffic accident that took place along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Shanks Road. The incident happened at an as-of-yet undetermined time on Sunday, July 29, 2018. As of today, officials have identified the culprit driver as 20-year old Delhi resident Sayla Gardenia Jaimes and one of the non-guilty drivers as Turlock resident Jesus Venegas. Authorities have also identified Venegas’ passenger as 32-year old Brenda Torres. No more details about the identities of the third driver or Venegas’ 7-year old son have been revealed at this time.

According to initial reports, Jaimes had been driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla while under the influence of alcohol the wrong way on northbound 99. As a result, the Corolla clipped an oncoming 1998 Dodge Durango and slammed into a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Venegas and occupied by Torres.

Later, Jaimes was sent to a local hospital for treatment of a broken pelvis.

Meanwhile, Venegas was brought to Memorial Medical Center, where he received treatment for broken ribs. Simultaneously, Torres was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of a fractured leg. Venegas’ son, who had suffered a broken jaw and facial injuries, was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital.

Presently, the investigation is ongoing.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and most loving thoughts to the victims of the crash and wish them swift and efficient recoveries from their injuries.

Brutal Traffic Accident in Merced County

Based on this information, Jaimes was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Under California State Law, DUI can result in severe punishment based on multiple factors including blood-toxicity level and the brutality of the crash altogether.

Once the case is resolved, Mr. Venegas and Ms. Torres may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the suspect driver and, ultimately, receive compensation for inconveniences including painful injuries and medical bills.
