Coarsegold, California – Motorist Dies after Fatal Traffic Accident on Highway 41

Coarsegold, California (July 2, 2018) – Local Fresno news sources reported that a motorist died as a result of a fatal traffic accident that took place on Highway 41, in the vicinity of Yosemite Springs Parkway. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 PM in the late afternoon on Saturday, June 30, 2018. As of now, authorities have identified the deceased driver as 30-year old Victoria Gomez, a Fresno local. Likewise, officials have revealed the second driver involved to be 49-year old Kai Eugene Kelikuli, of Santa Maria.

Based on the police reports, Gomez was driving a 2007 Chevrolet along Highway 41. At the same time, Kelikuli was operating a 2015 Volkswagen Golf above the legal speed limit. At the time, Kelikuli was traveling northbound on Highway 41 when he attempted to swerve into the southbound lane to pass a car in front of him. Without warning, the Volkswagen struck the Chevrolet head-on.

Additional reports from the California Highway Patrol confirmed that Gomez was wearing a safety belt during the time of the accident. Nevertheless, medical personnel sadly revealed the 30-year old woman had died at the crash site.

During the crash, Kelikuli had not been wearing his seatbelt and flew out of the vehicle. As a result of the impact, he sustained severe trauma and was rushed via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he received treatment for his severe injuries.

Authorities explained that Kelikuli had been driving over 55 mph.

We extend our deepest condolences and most heartfelt prayers to the family and friends of Victoria Gomez during this difficult and tragic time.
