Bakersfield, CA – Mother and Daughter Injured after Pedestrian Accident at Intersection of Olive Drive and Knudsen Road

Bakersfield, CA (August 8, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a mother and daughter had sustained injuries as the result of a collision with a vehicle that took place at the intersection of Olive Drive and Knudsen Road. Authorities first logged the incident at approximately 4:45 PM in the afternoon on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identity of the woman, her child, and the driver involved in the crash has been revealed.

Based on the CHP report, the mother and daughter were trying to cross Olive Drive when, for indeterminate reasons, a truck plowed into them. Sometime later, medical personnel transported the two victims to Kern Medical, where they received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The current conditions of the victims have not been released at this time.

Presently, the California Highway Patrol has assumed authority over an ongoing investigation into the potential cause of the crash. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and most loving thoughts to the mother and child during this difficult time and wish them swift and efficient recoveries from their injuries.

Pedestrian Accident in Bakersfield

By law, drivers are required to decrease the speed of their vehicles and provide the right of way to pedestrians along all areas of a roadway. Based on the information provided in the report, however, officials have not revealed if the victims had been walking in a marked or unmarked crossing zone on Olive Drive.

As part of the ongoing investigation, forensic teams will inspect the vehicle and examine photos of the crash site to determine if the driver had experienced mechanical issues or system failure, forcing the vehicle to swerve out of control. Authorities will also consider if drugs, alcohol, negligence, recklessness, or distracted driving contributed to the collision in any way.

In the event of a pedestrian accident of this nature, the non-guilty injured victims may have the option of filing a personal injury lawsuit against the guilty party to receive compensation for multiple issues including medical bills and painful injuries.
