Alameda County, CA – Two Women Dead after Fatal Accident on Redwood Road near Upper San Leandro Reservoir

Alameda County, CA (July 18, 2018) – Local news sources reported a fatal accident took place along Redwood Road in the vicinity of the Upper San Leandro Reservoir, within an unincorporated area of Alameda County. The incident occurred at approximately 10:33 PM at night on Saturday, July 14, 2018. As of now, officials have identified the deceased victims as 56-year old Hayward resident Maria Ybarra and 27-year old Virginia resident Kelsie Hansen. The identity of a third victim involved in the crash has not been disclosed at this time.

According to news reports, a red Mazda was driving along Redwood Road in the vicinity of Maciel Road in the unincorporated area. For indeterminate reasons, the driver of the vehicle lost control, and the Mazda flipped along the road. Both Ybarra and Hansen suffered traumatic injuries from the impact and died. Authorities have not determined which woman had been driving the Mazda.

Later, the unidentified third victim was taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. The extent of this individual’s injuries has not been disclosed.

Presently, officials are investigating potential causes for this deadly crash.
