Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of cases do you handle?
The Brady Law Group has a diverse, statewide practice. We represent plaintiff’s throughout California in lawsuits related to Severe Personal Injuries, Wrongful Death, Accidents, Products Liability, Medical Malpractice, Insurance Disputes, Sexual Molestation, and Corporate Whistleblowers.
2. Do you take cases on a “contingency fee” basis?
Yes. The cases our firm handles are very complex and they typically require a great deal of investigation, analysis, and testimony by various experts. This process is extremely expensive and it would be unreasonable to expect a client to have that kind of available cash. Also, many of our clients have been subjected to catastrophic personal injuries and need assistance getting proper medical care. We have relationships with the best doctors and medical facilities in California and we always make sure that our severely injured clients get the care they need. Again, it would be unreasonable for us to expect a client to have the money required to pay for such services up front so we advance the money required to will pay for any uncovered medical expenses. We have had the good fortune of running a highly successful law practice for over two decades and we therefore have the financial stability required to take all of our cases on a contingency fee basis.
Here is how it works. If you retain The Brady Law Group you pay us nothing up front. We pay all of the expenses required to investigate, prepare, and present your case - including your uncovered medical bills. If we do not recover for you, you owe us nothing. If we do successfully resolve your case, we receive a percentage of the recovery and reimbursement of our expenses.
3. What questions should I ask before hiring an attorney?
We believe that the following ten questions are both appropriate to ask and relevant to your decision regarding which lawyer to use in your case. The attorney’s answers and reactions to these questions will be revealing and should help you make a good decision.
- How many cases like mine have you handled in the last five years?
- How many cases like mine have you taken to trial in the last five years?
- How many jury verdicts have you personally obtained?
- Can you refer me to a doctor who is an expert in treating the kind of injury I have suffered?
- Are you prepared to finance the costs of my case all the way through trial?
- Can you tell me about your staff that will assist you in handling my case?
- Have you been on the board of your local or state trial lawyers association?
- Do you return you client’s calls on a daily basis?
- May I have the names and numbers of a few former clients who had cases similar to mine?
- Can you provide me with a few names and numbers of a few lawyers who have tried cases against you in the past two or three years?
4. Why is trial experience so important?
Trial experience is critical at every stage of a case. Insurance companies and big business keep statistics on plaintiff’s lawyers just like athletes. One of the first things a sophisticated defendant will do is research the background of your attorney. They will investigate his or her record in litigation and see whether they have taken big business or insurance companies to trial. If they learn that your attorney has extensive trial experience, you and your case will be treated differently. They know which attorneys pose a real and credible threat to them.
An experienced trial attorney with a strong reputation and a history of large jury verdicts and settlements will not only be able to properly investigate and prepare the case, he or she will be able to illicit much higher initial settlement offers from the defendants and their insurance companies. When you engage The Brady Law Group, it sends a message to the defendants that you are ready to take your claim all the way to trial. They will know immediately that you mean business and that your lawyer is ready for trial on day one.
There is simply no substitute for the wisdom, perspective and confidence that comes from handling thousands of high-value cases against the nation’s largest businesses and insurance companies. If you have any type of serious legal problem, contact The Brady Law Group.
